Bankaltimara Education CLC in Tawau Malaysia

Earlier in March 2019, the East Kalimantan Regional Development Bank of North Kalimantan (Bankaltimtara), along with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) visited the children of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in Tawau City, Sabah State, Malaysia.

During the visit, Bankaltimtara and OJK provided financial education and literacy. Especially, those related to banking products, to PMIs, along with their children.

On the same occasion Bankaltimtara also handed over 10 laptop units to the 10 Community Learning Centers (CLC) in Tawau.

CLC is the official learning community for children of Indonesian migrant workers working in the Malaysian State of Sabah.

CLC has existed since 2011, after an agreement was reached between the 6th Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and the Malaysian Prime Minister, Najib Razak, regarding education.

The agreement between the two countries is the basis for the establishment of the CLC in a number of Malaysian oil palm plantations, where Indonesian migrant workers work.
